This is the first of our new series, #FabulousFemaleFriday. Each of these weekly posts will include a series of answers from incredible women doing wonderful things. Each of our featured women has an opportunity to answer the questions they resonate the most with. We’ve also asked them to provide images which make them feel the most like themselves.
This week, we are thrilled to introduce Kristal Barrett-Stuart, an inspirational woman from Vancouver, BC. Mother, Soulpreneur, The Sparkle Project founder
Where did you grow up, where do you live now, and if you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Grew up in Abbostford, BC. Would be happy to live in Hawaii.
What is your favourite quote, and why is it meaningful?
No one is you and that is your power
I love this quote because it is everything that The Sparkle Project stands for. We all have our own unique sparkle to offer the world!
What do you find most hurtful, why? How do you overcome?
I am very sensitive to judgemental people (I refer to hurtful people as “sparkle dimmers”) I always remind myself that hurt people hurt others and try and find compassion.
It might sound cliché but every time I would hit a bump in life my Mom would always say “everything happens for a reason” and “what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger” this advice has really stuck with me since I was a teenager and It is still my go to when I am going through a rough time I always tell myself it is for a reason or a lesson. It always ends up making sense in the long run… it was just a stepping stone to something great or a breakthrough!
Who do you most want to connect with in life? Why?
I love to connect with passionate and kind souls, I am all about good energy and my heart feels full when I am around people want to contribute to the world and enjoy making others feel better. I also love connecting with young girls who are feeling lost in life, I have so much compassion for their journey and the challenges they face and am really on a mission to inspire them to be fearless and to own their unique sparkle. I really just love meaningful, soulful connections.
My daughter inspires me to be the best version of myself, I want to pave a positive path for her by leading by example and showing her how to chase your dreams and how to be humble and kind too. I am also so inspired by humanitarians that just want to do good in the world. Since I was a teenager I was so inspired by Oprah and still am to this day.
How do you define happiness?
Happiness is when your life fulfills your needs. It all starts with gratitude and perspective. I practice gratitude on a daily basis and feel so incredibly happy for all the blessings I have in my life. To quote Oprah “Be thankful for what you have, you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have you will never have enough”.
I have always been a dreamer with big dreams and am so proud that I believed in myself enough to chase them. I am also so proud to have created a project that I am so passionate about and to see it making such a difference to the lives of many young girls. Lastly, I am the most proud of being the mother of my sweet and confident little girl.
